Shari Faden Donahue is the founder of Arimax, Inc. Publishing (, established 1992, and the award-winning Zebra-Striped Whale Ice Cream & Coffee Café (, established 2004. The cafe’s unique name is derived from The Zebra-Striped Whale with the Polka-Dot Tail, a hardcover children’s picture book written and illustrated by Shari Faden Donahue.

Just eight months after opening, the Zebra-Striped Whale Ice Cream & Coffee Café was voted the “Best of Philly” by Philadelphia Magazine. To give back to community, Shari Faden Donahue has spearheaded the non-profit Zebra-Striped Whale Foundation (ZSWF,—a philanthropic organization whose mission is to raise funds for those in need through the art of children’s picture book publishing.
